The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation offers a Master of Science (MS) in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport and Exercise Psychology. The MS program requires a total of 36 hours, including 9 hours of core kinesiology courses (see courses below). 1. Complete KINE 5135 and 5185 no later than spring semester of their first year in the program. Students must earn a grade of “B” or higher in each of these two courses.
  2. Students must have completed two full semesters within the Kinesiology master’s program; their cumulative GPA must be a 3.0 or higher.
  3. Be recommended by the Kinesiology faculty for the sport psychology practicum. Recommendations are sent to Dr. Trent Petrie (Department of Psychology) in April of every year.
  4. Students must be able to commit to, and complete, the practicum for the two long semesters of their second year in the program (consecutive Fall and Spring semesters).

Students who are recommended for KINE 5850 will then be interviewed by Dr. Petrie.  Final decisions on being accepted into KINE 5850 are generally made the end of May each year.
